Heathen Child in streaming sul myspace dei Grinderman + news!

Heathen Child è da oggi ascoltabile sul myspace della band.

Il singolo sarà rilasciato dalla Mute il 6 settembre. Sarà disponibile il download del pezzo insieme all’esclusivo brano Star Charmer.

Uscirà inoltre un’edizione speciale di Heathen Child che oltre alle due tracce già citate, conterrà pure la bonus track Super Heathen Child, una collaborazione tra i Grinderman e il leggendario chitarrista dei King Crimson Robert Fripp.

Nick Cave, Bunny Munro diventa una miniserie tv

Non diventerà un film bensì una miniserie televisiva il romanzo di Nick Cave La Morte di Bunny Munro. Nato originariamente come sceneggiatura, e trasformato in romanzo, la storia dark e umoristica di Bunny, venditore porta a porta di cosmetici femminili sessuomane, arriverà sul piccolo schermo probabilmente con il volto di Ray Winstone e la regia di John Hillcoat. Winstone ha già interpretato il Capitano Stanley in The Proposition, film del 2005 sceneggiato da Cave e diretto da Hillcoat. Il progetto dovrebbe arrivare a Channel4 o alla BBC. Nel frattempo Cave, sempre più interessato al cinema, sta cercando di piazzare un’altra sceneggiatura sul grande schermo.

Dal punto di vista musicale il musicista australiano è tutt’altro che inattivo: il secondo album dei Grinderman esce il 13 settembre. Oggi è stata comunicata la copertina e la tracklist:

Sarà “Heathen Child” il titolo del primo singolo estratto da Grinderman 2.

Grinderman 2 in uscita il 13 settembre. Concerti a Milano e Roma in ottobre.

Aggiornamento sul nuovo album dei Grinderman

Il nuovo disco dei Grinderman sarebbe praticamente concluso da circa tre settimane.
La notizia trapela attraverso Warren Ellis: ”We finished the Grinderman album three weeks ago. I mixed it over the summer, and finished it before the Dirty Three, Green Man show. We’ve still got to do the track ordering, and a few tweaks on the mastering, but the album’s there. It’s got some pretty weird things going on. I play lots of stuff on there, there’s violin on it, which I didn’t get in the other one, and a lot of backing vocals.”

MacGowan un singolo per Haiti con Johnny Depp e Nick Cave

Shane MacGowan, cantante dei Pogues, registrerà un singolo per Haiti insieme a Johnny Depp, alla moglie Vanessa Paradis, a Nick Cave e a Bobby Gillespie dei Primal Scream.

Il rocker 52enne ha intenzione di realizzare una cover di “I Put a Spell on You”, una canzone del 1956 di Screamin’ Jay Hawkins già rivisitata in diverse forme da stelle della musica come Nina Simone, Ray Charles, Tom Waits e lo stesso Nick Cave.

Secondo quanto riporta oggi il Sun, MacGowan sarebbe partito ieri dalla fattoria irlandese in cui vive alla volta di Londra dove registrerà il brano. Anche Mick Hucknall dei Simply Red potrebbe prestare la sua voce al singolo di beneficenza.

Se ne è andato Rowland S. Howard

Si è spento stamattina a Melbourne Rowland S. Howard, chitarrista e figura di rilievo della scena punk della città australiana. Aveva 50 anni, soffriva di tumore al fegato ed era in attesa di un trapianto. Motivo per cui aveva annullato i suoi impegni live. Howard aveva esordito con i Boys Next Door in seguito The Birthday Party, guidati da Nick Cave; aveva scritto per loro il brano “Shivers” e in seguito aveva fatto parte di Crime and the City Solution e These Immortal Souls. Aveva poi proseguito la carriera come solista e il suo secondo album era uscito lo scorso ottobre con ottime recensioni critiche.
